The AIGA GOTV poster design project was to inspire citizens to vote. The approaches and audiences varied between designers, yet together stressed the critical and seriousness that voting has on our society. Before working on any aspect of the design, I researched vary aspects of the voting process, the problems as to why someone would choice not to vote, understand various ages and their experiences with voting. This project really helped me to understand how it is an important process to our society. Voting is how we get our voice heard, without it we don’t have one. Other countries are still fighting for this right and a lot of us take it for granted now. It is time we do something and I hope my posters inspire some. The collection of American flags was to evoke history and pride we have as a country and how much we have evolved over the years. Change will happen regardless, so why not have your opinion heard. My other poster design was a type-based poster, to inform citizens that voting is a way to have their voice heard. Without voting, there is no link or connection between us and the government. After completing this project, I am going to vote and participate in democracy. I haven’t been old enough before and haven’t thought much of it after. This project opened my eyes to the importance.
